HANDWERK UND MUNDWERK – Sunderiya Erdenesaikhan

Language navigation

Exhibition information:

During her three-month artist’s residency as part of the SMArt programme, Mongolian photographer Sunderiya Erdenesaikhan went in search of traditional foods in Valais and the people who still make them today. Why do we pass down old traditions? What can we learn from previous generations about food production? And who will carry on the traditions that have been handed down?

Sunderiya Erdenesaikhan’s photos take us on a journey from the craft to the mouth, which, as we know, is not only for eating but also for sharing experiences and knowledge.

The SMArt programme aims to raise awareness of the particular challenges faced by mountain regions worldwide through exhibitions by international photographers. The programme focuses in particular on the topics of climate change, water reserves, biodiversity, food security and migration.
