Exhibition information:
“Common ground” can mean a shared space or a space where it’s possible to communicate and reach a consensus. But which people have the resources to make their voices heard?
This year’s Weiertal Biennale focuses on this question: it’s about social and environmental justice, and how closely they are linked. This becomes clear with regard to the ongoing global exploitation of people and nature, the distribution of resources on a planet that’s supposed to be our “common ground”.
With 17 artistic contributions, the garden in the Weiertal becomes a place of reflection – and perhaps even a nucleus of social and political utopias that observers will take with them from here into the world.
